A selection of projects spanning broadcast television, digital campaigns, and brand content.
virgin x vitality
I was excited about this one. Not only was I a keen runner and Mo Farah something of a hero to me, but I had also signed up to run the event myself. Working with Josh Knox as DOP, we flew out to Nike HQ in Beaverton, US with a limited schedule. With only a morning to shoot Mo, we made the most of it. Zooming around on a golf buggy trying to catch Sir Mo as he trained in the rain was a joy. Sir Mo was a gentleman, and I even added my own voice for the end tags to ensure we met our very strict deadline.
I was the executive producer on a raft of content for this brilliant campaign from Google, and overjoyed when I got to go on site and visit CERN. Working with long-time collaborator David Betteridge, I was in awe when we reached the LHC (Large Hadron Collider). We were there for a momentous occasion: they were checking radiation levels before it was switched on. The Higgs Boson particle was discovered just a few weeks later. The video was a raft of around ten, covering all corners of the globe culimnating in the live online event at Google's US campus.
WWF
Working with PR experts Manifest, we created an activation supporting WWF's call for world leaders to commit to ending the illegal wildlife trade. We took a life-sized holographic elephant around London, with a petition demanding stronger efforts to tackle corruption, better support for rangers, and the closing of all ivory markets. An exhaustive twenty-one-hour shoot, we had to ensure social media assets and b-roll were ready for press both morning and night. Intense, but we smashed WWF's target while garnering great public and industry coverage.
VIRGIN
I love working with animation and have collaborated with some incredible animators throughout my career. At Virgin, we had access to remarkable individuals sharing advice on business and life. Featuring guests including Arianna Huffington and, in this case, behavioural expert Rory Sutherland, we asked three questions in one minute. Character animation was the solution on two counts: we needed cut-through, and time and budget were tight while online audio was still in its infancy. We sent microphones to our guests, who very kindly returned them with their contributions recorded.
HELLO! MAGAZINE
Teaming up with The Royal British Legion, Lady Penny Lancaster-Stewart and Sir Rod Stewart, Hello! took part in an incredible performance surprising war heroes on board MV Boudicca. The rock and roll legend marked the 75th anniversary of D-Day by serenading 300 veterans with his classic hit: 'Sailing'. A HELLO! exclusive, we had a morning to shoot and an afternoon to turn it around. With a minimal crew, we captured every reaction. It was an honour to be on board with the veterans, and having sign-off from Sir Rod himself was equally special. Hello! had the world exclusive, with Lady Penny's images gracing the cover and Sir Rod's performance going out on social channels that evening.
